University City District: Youcie

In an effort to reach out to the more than 45,000 young people in University City, University City District has created youcie, a young friends group.

Youcie members are diverse individuals who are committed to University City’s uniqueness, growth and vitality. Youcie events allow members to connect, interact with and explore University City’s diverse cultural, social, and community service offerings. The programming is a mix of sophisticated contemporary cultural and recreational events driven by the energy and uniqueness of University City. Members enjoy happy hours, special invitations to openings, previews and screenings, and other social and community events.

Membership is free and open to those 21 years and older who wish to engage in exciting programming with other like-minded students and professionals.

To RSVP for any of the events, email youcie@ucityphila.org. Be sure to include the names of any guests you are planning to bring. If the event is a happy hour event (marked with an asterisk) your first drink is free if you RSVP!

Fall 2008 Events

Happy Hour at Distrito*
Wednesday, September 10
6-8pm

Enjoy exclusive happy hour prices on beer and margaritas while mingling with new friends at Distrito (40th and Chestnut Street) from 6–8pm.

POST (Philadelphia Open Studio Tour)
Saturday, October 4
noon-4pm

Youcie will be serving refreshments and snacks at the University City Arts League (4226 Spruce Street) from noon–4pm. Stop by for a break as you tour the art studios in University City!

Monday Night Football at Millcreek Tavern*
Monday, November 3
6-8pm

Join us for pregame appetizers and drink specials at Millcreek Tavern (42nd Street and Chester Avenue) from 6–8pm.

Volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House Family Meal Program
Tuesday, December 2

Serve up plates of delicious food and holiday cheer to the families staying at the Chestnut Street Ronald McDonald House (3925 Chestnut Street). From 3–6:30pm Youcie is preparing food and hosting the Family Meal Program. To volunteer, email youcie@ucityphila.org.
