Trash Stinks! Pitch in to Help Keep University City Clean on June 21
The perfect start to a beautiful summer in your neighborhood!

University City District, in cooperation with the City of Philadelphia, Fairmount Park, CLIP Program and Philadelphia Department of Streets, will assist your block by providing bags, work gloves, and trash pick up.

For more information and to sign up for the Saturday, June 21 cleanup, please contact Dexter Bryant at dexter@ucityphila.org or call 215-243-0555 ext.236. Mark your calendars for the next cleanups after the summer: October 25 and December 6.


Sacred Places Mural Arts Tour Series

Join Partners for Sacred Places and the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program on a Sacred Places Mural Arts Tour of West Philadelphia, Saturday, June 21. Discover public art in historic sacred places while viewing Philadelphia's famous murals by trolley. Tour members will visit two churches boasting magnificent art that have participated in Partners for Sacred Places’ training and received Partners’ grants. St. Francis de Sales and St. Mary’s Hamilton Village Churches house stunning and intricate mosaics and antique statues. Additionally, St. Francis de Sales’ Byzantine building features a dynamic polychromatic dome.

All tours depart from Independence Visitors Center, 6th & Market Streets, Philadelphia. Tours run from 10am-12pm. Please arrive by 9:30am, and meet at the Philadelphia Trolley Works tour desk. Friday Night Jazz at Cedar Park

Located in beautiful Cedar Park at 50th and Baltimore Avenue, Denise King returns to present Friday Night Jazz at Cedar Park, from 6-8pm. These FREE Jazz concerts featuring nationally and internationally renowned artists are held every Friday night from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. Friday Night Jazz at Cedar Park is sponsored by University City District through funding from Jim Roebuck’s Office and with support from Cedar Park Neighbors. Please join us on August 22 for the very special University City District Night.

West Philly Tool Library Extends Hours for Summer
Now there's no need to wait until Saturday to borrow (or return!) tools.

The West Philly Tool Library is now open
Tuesdays 6:30-8:30pm
Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm
Saturday 9am-2pm

Home Repair Workshop Series
The West Philly Tool Library, The Other Carpenter, West/Southwest NAC, and The Partnership CDC present the Home Repair Workshop Series.

The workshops will include expert instruction on how to perform small home repair in basic carpentry, electric, and plumbing; a complimentary tool kit for participants to take home and start performing their own home repairs; a certificate for one (1) year membership to West Philly Tool Library.

When: Mondays July 7, July 14, July 21, July 28
Time: 5:30-7:00pm
Where: West Philly Tool Library at 4620 Woodland Ave
Cost: $20
