UCD AT WORK: 46TH STREET TRAFFIC TRIANGLEThe 46th Street traffic triangle was recently improved through the coordinated efforts of The City of Philadelphia Streets Department, Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell's Office, The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, UC Green, University City District (UCD) and the members of the surrounding community, with generous support from Citizens Bank Foundation, INTECH Construction and William Penn Foundation. The footprint of the triangle was extended into Baltimore Avenue to allow for safer boarding at the Trolley Stop on the green line. As a result of the bump out curb feature, cars can no longer attempt to pass the trolley on the right while passengers are boarding. The triangle, which was once entirely concrete, incorporates a pedestrian pathway and landscaped planting beds, improving storm water management on Baltimore Avenue.
