WINE & SPIRITS STORE GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board invites you to the grand opening of the Wine & Spirits store at 4906-08 Baltimore Avenue in Philadelphia on Friday, March 7th from 5-7pm.

Relocating from 4924 Baltimore Avenue, the newly opened store at 4906-08 Baltimore Avenue offers the community an accessible and safe location to purchase wine and spirits. The store will also bring a greater selection of products and a more enjoyable shopping experience while maintaining the same friendly faces you’ve come to know from the former location.

Please join us for the ribbon cutting on Friday, March 7, from 5-7 pm to toast the grand opening of the new Wine & Spirits store. Wine tasting, of course, and light refreshments will be offered throughout the celebration. RSVP to Beth Martinez at 717-783-8864 or by email at elmartinez@state.pa.us.

UNIVERSITY CITY HISTORICAL SOCIETY 2007 PRESERVATION INITIATIVE AWARD

The University City Historical Society recently presented its 2007 Preservation Initiative Award to Joseph Minardi, a photographer and graphic designer from South Philadelphia, for “West Philadelphia, Streetcar Suburb,” a photo essay on PhillySkyLine, http://phillyskyline.com/photo/joeminardi/streetcarsuburb/ .

The society said the images ”vividly remind us of the architectural and landscape riches which continue to surround us and are critical to our quality of life.” It called the essay, which Minardi is hoping to publish in book form, a “major contribution to the appreciation of the architectural heritage of University City.” If you are interested in seeing just how splendid the historic architecture of University City can be captured by a skilled and discerning eye, check out Joe's essay.
