UCD and The Science Center Organize University City Safety Fair

Philadelphia, PA (17 October 2003) – University City District (UCD) is organizing it’s first-ever safety fair to be held in conjunction with The Science Center, on October 29th in the lobby of 3600 Market Street, from 11am to 2pm.

The goal of the fair is to enhance the sense of safety and inform employees about the numerous safety services available in University City. Participating organizations include: University City District, Allied Security, Amtrak, Drexel, PENN, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Police, Project Home, the Philadelphia Fire Department, Red Cross, and SEPTA. These groups will provide materials and present their knowledge of office, street, car and travel smarts.

"We want this fair to provide office workers, retailers, and visitors with information to enhance awareness and reduce the opportunity for crime to occur," says Eric T. Goldstein, UCD Executive Director.

Lieutenant Fred Carbonara of the Philadelphia Police Department says, "Education and awareness is one of the biggest deterrents of crime occurring and fairs like this help people understand the resources available to them in University City regarding public safety."

University City District plans to hold these fairs several times a year in different locations throughout the University City area. For more information, contact Lori Brennan at 215.243.0555, X227.
