(Philadelphia, PA) –As the weather warms, farmers from around the region will be bringing the freshest in locally grown produce to University City. University City boasts two excellent and well-established farmers markets: the Clark Park Farmers’ Market at 43rd and Baltimore Avenue, and the Powelton Farmers’ Market at 38th and Powelton Avenue. Both markets run from May through November. Not only do the markets provide local residents with fresh, local produce, meats, cheeses, and other products, but also they serve as informal gathering points for area residents.

The 7th season of the Clark Park market commences on Saturday, May 1, with the Thursday market beginning on June 3. The Saturday market, which runs from 10 am – 2 pm, and the Thursday market, open from 3 – 7 pm, has many of your favorite farmers returning. Also joining them will be some new farmers, including growers of certified organic vegetables. Just remember, since all of the produce is locally grown, Mother Nature determines what is available at any given time. The Clark Park Farmers Market is co-produced by University City District and The Food Trust.

The Powelton Farmers Market begins its 4th season on Saturday, May 1. The market operates from 10 am – 2 pm and is run by Farm to City. The market offers fruits, vegetables, free range meats, dairy products, and organic vegetables grown by students from University City High School in their schoolyard garden.
