Studio 34 Hosts 90th Birthday Celebration for Yoga Guru B.K.S. Iyengar

On Friday, December 5, Studio 34 will host a gala event as part of a worldwide celebration of internationally-renowned yoga guru B.K.S. Iyengar's 90th birthday. The evening kicks off at 7 PM, and will feature live music and a silent auction to benefit Iyengar's own Bellur Project, a charity dedicated to improving the conditions of live in Bellur, India, the yogi's hometown.

Ticket sales, a steal at $10 each, will also benefit the Bellur Project, a model of local economic and social development worldwide. This international initiative will help build and improve schools and libraries, provide clean drinking water and agricultural education, and establish local primary care health facilities in that rural region. Purchasing a ticket also gets you the chance to wander through the gallery space of Studio 34 to the music by Archedream for Humankind and Allyn Minor and bid on the items for offer in the silent auction. These include a weekend in the Poconos, original artwork, private concerts, yoga and massage gift certificates, gold jewelry, and more.

The gala at Studio 34 is only one of many birthday celebrations taking place in yoga studios, community spaces, and homes across the world. Come take join the Philadelphia event to recognize the important work done by B.K.S. Iyengar over ninety tumultuous years.


Studio 34 is located in the heart of West Philadelphia at 4522 Baltimore Avenue.
