Brownies Opens in University City

LONGTIME PHILADELPHIA ROCK VENUE REOPENS

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Philadelphia’s University City once again has a local venue for up and coming musical acts.

What was formerly the Chestnut Cabaret, a longtime rock club that saw breakthrough performances by bands such as The Ramones, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Iggy Pop, is now Brownies 38^th Street.

Like its predecessor, Brownies will feature live shows by outstanding bands on their way to the top. Not only will bands be able to showcase their talent by putting their own spin on cover songs, they will also be able to debut original music. This is an exciting opportunity for both the musical groups as well as those that will get to hear a future top ten hit first.

Whether you choose to dance on the dance floor, hang out at one of the two ample bars, play a game of pool or air hockey, or just relax at a table in the raised seating area, Brownies’ new and improved layout allows everyone the ability to enjoy themselves and the live music in a variety of fashions. And if that isn’t enough, the great acoustics, enticing drink specials, appetizing food, game room, pool tables, plasma TVs and private party room are sure to entice you.

Brownies 38^th Street is under the same ownership as Brownies 23 East, the Mainline’s most popular college bar and nightclub. Hopes are to bring the fun and friendly atmosphere present at 23 East over to 38^th Street. The two bars will offer similar drink specials and live performances, so now wherever you are in the Philadelphia area, there will be a Brownie’s close by.

Brownies grand opening is set for Thursday, September 2^nd with musical guest Mr. Greengenes. The venue is located on 38^th Street between Ludlow and Chestnut in Philadelphia’s University City and will feature live shows every Tuesday through Saturday night.
