Under the Surface features etchings from two complimentary series of works. The first series of images deals with the deconstruction of an industrial environment and integrates layered clay prints under each etching. The second series concentrates on the visual deconstruction of a natural environment and uses the leaf as an integral element in the process and finished image. These compositions are further developed with the addition of watercolor and layering of thread. Both series reflect Fentzloff’s connection to her surroundings and use textural elements to enhance the composition visually and conceptually.
Fentzloff earned her BS in design from Drexel University. Her teaching credits include Drexel University, Delaware College of Art & Design and Fleisher Art Memorial where she currently instructs adult etching classes and youth art classes. Locally, her work has been shown at DaVinci Gallery, Philadelphia Sketch Club and Works on Paper/Faculty exhibitions at Fleisher Art Memorial.
UCAL Gallery hours are: Mon.-Thurs. Noon-7pm; Friday Noon-6pm; Saturday 11:30AM-1:30PM; and Sunday by appointment.
