Dock Street Brewery & Restaurant Opens in University City's Historic Firehouse
Company brings more than 20 years experience with innovative, distinctive and bold beers
(Philadelphia, PA) – Today. Monday, August 20th, Dock Street Brewery and Restaurant open its doors at 50th and Baltimore Avenue at 11AM in a renovated historic Firehouse in University City’s Cedar Park neighborhood. Owner Rosemarie Certo says that she wants to quickly establish herself in the University City and West Philadelphia community given that “Dock Street is a true community project.”
The Brewery will feature some of their award-winning brews but will focus on alternative and experimental styles that will include double and triple bocks, fruit beers, and IPAs. “We will have six beers on tap at any given time and will be continuously pushing the envelope,” says Certo. The bar will feature only Dock Street beers brewed onsite alongside Pennsylvania wines.
Adjacent to the Brewery is a restaurant featuring a simple menu driven by quality and freshness. It offers wholesome, fresh, organic ingredients as much as possible from local, like-minded small, sustainable businesses. The moderate prices appeal to a broad range of customers – students, singles, professionals and families. Guests can enjoy their fresh brew in addition to satisfying their appetite by indulging in woodburning gourmet pizzas, their famous trio-fries™, fresh salads, paninis, and plenty of vegetarian options.
“We chose this neighborhood because there’s both a political and social awareness here - a mix of race, creed, and culture. We want our business to be a part of the health of this community while building on Dock Street’s legacy by contributing and further defining the rich American craft beer culture that we pioneered in the mid 80s,” says Certo.

The Brewery will also host home brew competitions, tutored beer tastings, brewing seminars, classes and monthly raffles to spend a day brewing with the brewer.
