Contribute to University City District
Every day, University City District's staff works to clean our streets, reduce crime, attract visitors, improve the physical environment, and plan for a better future. In fact, in our first five years we successfully:
- Removed 5 million pounds of trash
- Helped reduce crime by more than 20%
- Conducted regional marketing of University City's restaurants, arts, and cultural venues
- Facilitated partnerships for district-wide public space improvements
UCD spends $112,000 per month on the Ambassadors' safety patrol and related services and $81,000 per month for Public Space Maintenance activities.
Unlike Philadelphia's other special service districts, UCD does not receive revenue from mandatory commercial property taxes, nor are we government funded. We rely 100% on voluntary contributions from our businesses, residents, and institutions.

Selected items and related costs on a monthly basis:
- Courtesy escorts - 90 hours/$500 monthly
- Graffiti removal - 285 hours/$4,000+ monthly
- Poster removal - 505 hours/$2,000 monthly
- Pan and broom litter removal - 2,556 bags collected monthly (nearly 36,000 pounds of trash!)
- Trash can pick-ups - 2,580 per month/$15,840 monthly
- Other maintenance (paint poles, walls, mailboxes, etc...) - $2,720 monthly
Donor Recognition
Donors are recognized at the following levels:
- Platinum Ambassador - over $100,000
- Gold Ambassador - $50,000-$99,999
- Silver Ambassador - $10,000-$49,999
- Bronze Ambassador - $1,000-$9,999
- Community Ambassador - under $1,000
